Spanish dehydrated Alfalfa with the eyes in Chinese market

In the Spanish territories, are cultivate 300.000 hectares of forages.

The dried fodder crops have a future, a great future ahead. So much so, that the green shoots expect for the economies, can been covered in the fields for months. Persian Gulf countries and China are the big markets targeted for the Spanish producers.

“This campaign has been sold out. The forages had been placed on the market, and at good price”, declared Joaquín Capistran, head of the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Dehydrated Alfalfa (AEFA) in a State Seminar on fodder made in Palencia, who noted that the drop in Spanish consumption and the increasing exports are the success keys of the current campaign. “Spain will produce 1.9 million tons and, from this production, 1.1 million tons are designed to foreign markets.”

“We have entered in a very positive dynamic. The high demand for Persian Gulf countries likes UAE and Saudi Arabia has boosted the crop”, said Capistran. These countries have chosen to turn their demand. If before the United States was the main market now, Spain has been placed in a prominent place.

“The increase of the prices in America, coupled with high levels of quality of the Spanish products, good logistics and euro-dollar exchange, ate factor thats favorite the Spanish products’.

However, the head of AEFA, said that this should not make the Spanish professionals to relax. ‘The dependence of the Gulf has its negative aspects. They set the price and make the demand, which can change at any time. ’.

This argument served as a prelude to state categorically that the opening of new markets will be the key. ‘We are working with China. It is difficult to enter, but there are negotiations and we expect a visit of officials of that country to approve the product”, said Capistran.
